Aon launches third article in 2018 Global Insurance Market Opportunities series...

Since its launch in September 2015, the Global Insurance Market Opportunities (GIMO) report has quickly become a leading thought leadership study and reference document for the re/insurance industry...

In 2018, Aon is taking a new approach to its distribution, by publishing articles throughout the year under the banner of Global Insurance Market Opportunities, rather than launching the single, comprehensive report. In doing so, we aim to increase its utilization, bring our ideas to market as fast as possible to support further development with our re/insurance client partners, and make it easier for GIMO readers to digest the wealth of content generated annually.

The third article in the GIMO series, Terrorism Pools show Public Private Enterprises how to adapt to a changing world, has been written by Emma Karhan, leader of Aon’s Public Private Enterprise (PPE) specialty practice, and Head of Terrorism Specialty and Reinsurer Relationships in London.

Emma’s article argues that, while historically Public Private Enterprises (PPEs) have been ‘effective and simple’ vehicles to provide solutions to alleviate the costs of the insurance protection gap within the global economy, new dynamics mean that PPEs need to adapt and change.

In this regard, terrorism reinsurance pools have been setting an example of how PPEs should look to the future, adapting to maintain their effectiveness in a changing environment.

These pools are not only looking at the catastrophic risk, but also at new type of coverages that are evolving from a changing peril whilst the private sector ‘catches up’.
