PARIMA Tokyo 2023 Conference: Adapting to Permacrisis

The Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association is set to conclude its 2023 Conferences at the Akasaka Intercity Conference Centre in Tokyo on 19 October 2023.

This event is expected to draw more than 250 senior risk professionals and industry experts from Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

In the wake of a turbulent start to the 2020s marked by events like the COVID-19 pandemic and global geopolitical shifts, businesses worldwide have faced unprecedented challenges. Recognising the pressing need for resilience and adaptability, PARIMA's 2023 Conferences are themed "Adapting to Permacrisis." This October, following a successful Conference in Mumbai in June this year, PARIMA brings this imperative discussion to Tokyo.

The PARIMA Tokyo 2023 Conference will feature 13 educational sessions covering diverse topics, including Future of Risk Management, Geopolitical Risks, Disaster Recovery, Captives, Cyber Threat Landscape, Parametric, People Risks, Insurance-Linked Securities, Business Continuity Response, ESG, Intellectual Property, Strategic Risks, and more. Each session aims to equip risk professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary to fortify their organisations in these uncertain times.

This conference will feature the participation of regional and local leaders from the risk and insurance sectors all over APAC, including Shin Hosaka, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Arnaud Vaissié, Chairman and CEO of International SOS, Tomoyuki Motoyama - Managing Executive Officer of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Executive Officer, CDO of MS&AD Group, Clemens Philippi, Chief Executive Officer of MSIG Asia, James Nash – President and CEO of AIG Japan Holdings KK, Tatsuya Jake Yamamoto – CEO, Japan of Aon, Ronak Shah - Chief Executive Officer of QBE Singapore, Gary A. Lebranche, FASAE, CAE – CEO of RIMS, and more.

Franck Baron, the founding chairman of PARIMA, reflects on the organisation's 10-year journey. “Over the years, I have seen tremendous progress as we strive for a better future in APAC for the risk and insurance management industry and community. Starting from Singapore, our vision expanded across Asia Pacific, and today, Japan proudly stands as one of our flagship regions.”

“Despite initial challenges with language barrier and the perception that risk management is not heavily ingrained in the culture, we persevered and successfully cultivated a thriving risk management community in Japan with the help of our past and present Japan Board Members.” As PARIMA celebrates its 10th Anniversary at the upcoming Tokyo Conference, Baron invites fellow risk managers to join him in continuing this remarkable journey. “Let us break down silos, foster cross-functional collaboration with colleagues, countries and cultures, and embrace diverse perspectives to build a stronger risk management industry.”

Distinguished attendees include global and regional representatives from organisations such as INPEX Corporation, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., Sony Group Corporation, Suntory Holdings Limited, Hitachi Ltd., Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan, Kirin Holdings Company, Asahi Kasei Corporation, Olympus Corporation, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., Ayala Corporation, BMW Group, Cummins, Macronix International, Meinian Onehealth Healthcare, MTR Corporation, Myanmar Brewery Limited, PETRONAS, National University Health System, Qisda Corporation, Rolls-Royce, TSMC, Weybourne Holdings and more.
