Marsh McLennan Calls on Industry to Amplify Potential of Future Market Leaders

Dan Glaser, President and CEO of Marsh McLennan, has urged the (re)insurance industry to empower the next generation of leaders to meet the challenges of the fast-evolving risk landscape...

Speaking ahead of the opening of the Marsh McLennan Rising Professionals’ Global Forum in London, Mr. Glaser said: “Attaining new levels of societal resilience in response to an escalating risk environment will require future leaders to reach new heights for clients and society at large. As an industry, we need to amplify our talent’s potential and enable their ambition, two things we are committed to doing for our people at Marsh McLennan.”

Commenting on the demand for talent in the context of this risk backdrop, John Doyle, Group President, Chief Operating Officer, said: “When you look at the scale and potential impact of the societal issues being addressed during the Forum, including climate change, cyber risk, and pandemics, the intensity of the risk environment our rising professionals face is considerable. Empowering these individuals and grounding them in the technical capabilities that underpin the insurance marketplace will help them innovate solutions that enable clients to tackle these perils effectively.”

The two-day Forum’s theme is “Navigating an extraordinary world.” During the event, transformational leaders from the (re)insurance sector and other industries will share insights with future market leaders. The largest (re)insurance event of its kind, it brings together more than 800 of the industry’s brightest talent, representing over 65 companies, to learn from speakers including: Michael Azlen, Founder and CEO, Carbon Cap; Ash Bathia, CEO, Probitas; Ed Butler, Chief Resilience Officer, Pool Re; Lucy Clarke, President, Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, Marsh; Neil Eckert, Executive Chairman, Conduit Re; Josh Motta, Founder & CEO, Coalition; John Neal, CEO, Lloyd’s; and Daniel Stander, Senior Advisor, Sustainable Finance Hub, United Nations Development Programme.

Vicky Carter, Chairman of Global Capital Solutions, International for Guy Carpenter, and Chairman of the Rising Professionals’ Initiative, said: “The Forum provides what we believe is a once in a career opportunity for our burgeoning market talent to engage with leaders from the (re)insurance sector and beyond who have shaped the industry, driven innovation, and delivered positive change. The relationships they forge with market peers and industry leaders will better enable them to successfully navigate through an extraordinarily challenging world for their clients and communities.”

Ms. Carter added: “Marsh McLennan embraces inclusion and diversity as a way of unlocking potential both within our organisation and across the industry.  Together with our industry partners, we have recruited a gender-balanced Forum cohort.”

The two-day event will conclude with a Gala Evening which aims to celebrate the (re)insurance industry’s extraordinary talent.
