Insurance Industry Comes Together with the IICF to Raise £50,000 - IICF

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), the non-profit organisation focused on social mobility and education, raised over £50,000 at its fifth annual gala on 11 March...

This amount raised, in a particularly challenging year, demonstrates the insurance industry’s commitment to creating impact and changing lives in its local communities.

The gala, reimagined as a virtual 5th Anniversary Celebration, brought together more than 120 industry leaders for a wine and cheese tasting, live auction and an opportunity to connect and network with industry colleagues.

Dawn Miller, Country President, Chubb Insurance (Switzerland) and Events Chair on the IICF Board of Directors remarked: “Over the last year in particular the Division’s boards and leaders in insurance have shown that, together, the industry can be a force for social good.  Through individual and company donations, the IICF has raised over £100,000, allowing  us to help over 3,000 people receive food donations, online support and education, while creating new opportunities for the industry to access diverse talent and develop the leaders of tomorrow.”

Proceeds from this event will benefit the IICF UK community grants programme, which supports charities focused on education and social mobility in communities across the country. Since IICF UK’s inception five years ago, it has granted nearly £400,000 to 21 non-profits and has helped more than 5,000 people at-risk to excel in school, find meaningful employment and make a new start in life.

Event participants heard first-hand the value of IICF grants to the likes of Vision Foundation,  a charity that provides vital services to the sight loss community. Olivia Curno, CEO, and Amit Shah, Trustee, described how funds from the IICF have enabled them to provide advice and support for blind and partially sighted graduates to help them secure their first job.

Also at the event, Wendy Wilder, Executive Director of IICF UK, announced the recipients of this year’s ‘Above & Beyond’ awards, given to young professionals who have made an outstanding contribution to the IICF as Associate Board members over the last 18 months. This year, the awards went to Robyn Drew, Risk Pricing Analyst at Simply Business, Liam Hebron, Marketing Executive at Axco, Alexandra Ignaciuk, Manager at EY, and Julie Rodriguez, Legal Counsel at CNA Hardy.

“This year’s virtual gala was another memorable night and it was great to see insurance leaders joining together to give back. We continue to be humbled by the generosity of individuals and companies in our industry, whose contributions will provide vital funding to help tackle issues such as digital exclusion, which have become more prevalent during the pandemic,” commented Wendy Wilder, Executive Director of the IICF UK.
